Mrs. Gloria B. Wilson

Gloria B. Wilson departed this life Sunday, March 21, 2021, at her residence. She was born on September 5, 1927, to the late Thomas Broady Sr. and Esther Maria Broady in Saltville, Va. Gloria lived a life of servitude for her family, friends, and most importantly, the Lord. She was a devoted housewife, full-time mother, and teacher, which she enjoyed thoroughly.

Gloria graduated from Wytheville High School in Wytheville, Va. Afterwards, she attended Bluefield State College, where she studied elementary education. She later was employed at Bristol Children’s Academy as the lead teacher over the daycare center, where all of her students loved her.

After retirement, she traveled and visited with her children as often as she could. Gloria spent much of her time working in her yard at home, where she tended to her garden, growing beautiful flowers in the summer. Gloria was a member of the Gospel Choir, Missionary Woman of the Year, Pastor’s Aid Committee, Treasurer for the usher board, and member of the Hospitality Committee, where she served diligently.

She is the youngest of five children whom she is preceded in death by her father and mother, Thomas Broady Sr. and Esther M. Broady; husband, William A. Wilson; one sister, Eunistine Butler; and three brothers, Edgar Broady, Thomas (Junior) Broady, and George William Broady.

She is survived by her six children, William L. Wilson, Zennie M. (Ernest) Cosby, Kenneth W. Wilson, Darryal E. (Kristen) Wilson, I, Vanessa L. Clark, and Andrea M. Wilson; 10 grandchildren, Alana, Darryal II, Kylie, Kendra, Newman, Jordon, Jonah, Aubry, Madison, and Tamera; two great-grandchildren, Zayden and Addison; as well as her nephew and niece, Mark and Carolyn Butler.

Services for Mrs. Gloria Wilson will be conducted Thursday, March 25, 2021, at 11 am from Lee Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the hour of service.
