Mrs. Evelyn Hughes

Evelyn was born in Bristol, TN on December 29, 1937, to James and Drucilla Hatcher.

Evelyn was a God-fearing woman who loved life and the simple things in it. It's hard to describe a woman of her kind. She was a jack of all trades. She was a nurturer at heart who took care and raised so many. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren who she loved more than anything. No words could ever be enough to explain one of God's greatest masterpieces and what she meant to this community.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her father, James Hatcher, Sr.; mother, Drucilla Hatcher; sisters, Lily C. Hatcher and Alma Scott; and grandson, Clayton Johnson.

She is survived by her brother, James Hatcher; sisters, Hansel Hatcher, Joanne Tabor, and Anne Black; daughter, Della Johnson; grandson, Preston Johnson; countless more grandchildren that loved her; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services for Ms. Evelyn Hughes will be conducted Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 12 pm from Parkway Baptist Worship Center, 1253 Volunteer Pkwy, Bristol, TN. The family will receive friends from 11 am until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Highpoint Cemetery, Abingdon, VA.
