Mr. James Wilford Dulaney

November 21, 1940 – March 4, 2022

James Wilford Dulaney, Sr., was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and Army Veteran. He passed from this world on March 4, 2022, at age 81.

James was born in Bristol, Tennessee, to Fred Dulaney, Sr., and Catherine Grubb Dulaney, both deceased.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Jr., Robert, Thomas, and Kenneth.

After graduation from Douglass High School in Bristol, Virginia, Class of 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and married Betty Jane Huntley of Bristol, Virginia. Together they had two children, Staci, Decatur, GA, and James Jr. (Sharon), Shakopee, MN.

James Sr. retired from the U.S. Army in 1979 with 20 years of service. During his service, he was a programmer analyst and a systems supervisor.

In addition to his former wife, Betty, and two children, he is survived by his siblings, JoAnn (Benjamin) Long, Huntsville, AL, Frank (Ellen), Kingsport, TN, Mary Dulaney, Bluff City, TN; five grandchildren, Crystal (Alford) Brooks, James III, Christian, Kendra, and Jacobi; two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Christian; and a host of nieces and nephews.

His interment will be in the Dawn Memorial Park, Decatur, GA. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belford Rd, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

The family is planning a memorial service at Lee Street Baptist Church, Bristol, Virginia, in the near future.
