Mr. Charles H. Duff Sr.

Charles Henry Duff Sr., affectionately called "Charlie," was born on March 31, 1934, in Bristol, VA, to the late William Henry and Delilah Duff. He grew up in Bristol, VA, and attended Douglass school.

He accepted Christ and was baptized in the Catholic faith at St. Anne's Catholic Church, where he was an usher and cooked at different functions.

He retired from Raytheon after 35 years. He worked for CP Daniels and Dr. Repass, Greyhound and Trailways Bus Company, and Slater elementary school as a custodian.

Charles loved cooking, Atlanta Braves baseball, football, and his train videos.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, William and Delilah Duff; sisters, Elvira and Louise; brothers, William, James, and Robert; wives, Marva Duff Dawe, and Mary A. Duff; second mom, Ala Belle Riley; and grandson, Wendell Pope.

To cherish his memory Charles leaves his daughters, Sheila (Michael) Russell, Caroline Duff Owens; Margaret Diggs, Sandra (Mike) Claytor; and Angela Wilford; sons, Charles Jr., John, Robert (Anna), Donald (Leanna), Wayne Batiste, and Willie Isom; 36 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; extended family Mary Harden and family; very special niece, Helen Jones; special friends, Bill and Rosemary Burriss, James "Skeeter" Ritter, and Gary Canter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bolick, Dr. Green, Dr. Rogers, Rev. Reid, Joe Tabor, NHC Staff and Caris Hospice Healthcare, R.A. Clark Funeral Service, and Sam and Brenda Abelseth.

Funeral mass will be conducted Friday, July 23, 2021, from St. Anne's Catholic Church at 1:00 pm, Father Chris Hess officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery Mausoleum Bristol, VA.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Charles and Mary A. Duff.
