Mrs. Hattye S. Broady
Surrounded by her loved ones, Hattye B. Broady peacefully and gracefully transitioned from this earthly life on September 7, 2020, to put on her "imperishable body" and receive her incorruptible crown.
Hattye was a member of Harris Anderson A.M.E. Zion Church in Bristol, VA for over 50 years. There she was a proud member of the Harris Anderson women's and combined choirs and served as church treasurer for 15 years. For many years she was an active member and leader of the Bristol District Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society; also serving as the secretary of the youth for the WHOMS. Hattye was an active participant and leader in the East TN and VA Conference for over 30 years.
She was employed at Rice Wholesale Company for approximately 25 years, from which she retired. Hattye was very active in the community serving as a member and or leader over the years for different organizations such as the Paramount Social and Study Club, Community Development Advisory Committee, Unity in Community, Douglass and Slater Alumni Associations, and enjoyed many years of volunteer work at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Washington and Cassie C. Moore Sanders; her loving husband, Frank M. Broady; five sisters, Mrs. Lillie Mae Brown, Mrs. Carrie Telford, Mrs. Eurline Sanders; Mrs. Dorothy Franklin, and Ms. Mary M. Sanders; one brother, Mr. Joseph Sanders; and one daughter, Ms. Carrie S. White Sharp.
Her legacy continues through her daughter, Mrs. Val (Tommy) Kane, of Bristol, TN; son, Oadis W. White, of Big Stone Gap, VA; daughter Mrs. Cookie (Rev. Joe N.) Perry, of McDonough, GA; brothers, Mr. Jake H. (Norma) Sanders and Mr. Herman E. Sanders; sisters, Ms. Belinda Morton, of Nashville, TN, Mrs. Hazel (William) Oliphant, of Madison, TN, and Ms. Josie Sanders, of Knoxville, TN, three devoted granddaughters, Ms. Jessica R. Perry, Ms. Jordan N. Perry, Ms. Santana M. White; and Carlos and Yvette Wade, of Knoxville, TN, as well as devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service for Mrs. Hattye B. Broady will be conducted Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 11 am from Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA. Due to Covid-19 seating will be limited; the family encourages those attending to bring a chair. State and CDC recommendations for social gatherings will be followed and masks will be required.
