Percy Edward Wilson, Jr. was born on May 6, 1956, in Bristol, Virginia, to Blanche and Percy Wilson. He departed this life on December 23, 2018, after a long battle with a chronic illness.
Percy graduated from Virginia High School in 1974 where he lettered in basketball and track. After graduation, he attended Ferrum Junior College in Roanoke, Virginia, and later Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Virginia. He worked faithfully for UPS for over 25 years, retiring after his health declined. He is a member of Lee Street Baptist Church and recently recommitted his life to the Lord.
Percy was a very loving, caring man who loved to laugh and had quite a sense of humor. He loved people and had a genuine concern for his fellow man. People were drawn to his outgoing personality and fun nature. He had a great voice and a smile that could light up the room. All who knew him were aware of his love of the New England Patriots football team. He will be missed by many whose lives he touched.
He leaves behind his sister, Cynthia Cheatham; brother-in-law, Lar’Nell Cheatham; and his three nieces who he adored, Gabrielle, Michaela, and Dominique Cheatham, all living in Maryland; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Services for Mr. Wilson will be conducted Saturday, December 29. 2018 at 11 am from Lee Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the hour of service.
