Evang. Deborah J. Hairston-Wheeler born March 25, 1955, in Gary, WV to the late Suff. Bishop Joe A. and Sis. Naomi J. Hairston. Deborah transitioned from this life on August 25, 2018, after a long battle with illness. She spent the last nine months with her family in Bristol.
Deborah was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost on August 4, 1967. She graduated from Gary High School in 1973. She went to beauty college and graduated in 1974 as a licensed beautician.
Deborah was raised as an active member of District 23 and served at both Apostolic Temple in Gary, WV and New Jerusalem Holiness Church in Lester, WV during her youth.
As an adult, she became an active member of the ministerial staff at Temple of Faith in Charleston, WV and The Potters House of Dallas, TX. Serving under the pastorate of Bishop Thomas D. Jakes for both. Deborah was an awesome beautician, teacher, preacher, evangelist, and prophet. She had a great concern for people souls.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Steven; sister, Lydia; and grandparents, Bishop B.T. and Alaska N. Jones as well as Mrs. Kate McLilly, and Joe D. Hairston.
Deborah is survived by two sisters, Evang. Joyce Reeves and Evang. Janice F. Hairston; brother, Dist. Elder Joe A. Hairston, Jr (Selina); stepson, Elwin Wheeler; three aunts, Mrs. Nevada Penn, Evang. Camilla Gaines, and Mrs. Juanita Jones; uncle, Mr. Albert Gaines; three nieces, Tonya Hairston, Rayna Duncan, and Michelle Hairston; eight nephews, Steven and Ryan Reeves, David Hairston, Donald Birch, III, and Joe, III, Patrick, Jonathan, and James Hairston; great-aunt, Ms. Pauline Gentry; special great-niece and nephews, Tevyn, Tylar, and Jillian Hairston; special friends, Jeanie Colston, Susan McCarthy, Tracie Henderson, Joycelyn Dunn, and Silas Wheeler; as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 12:00 pm from Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church 104 Park Ave Bluefield, WV. Interment will follow the service at Rest Lawn Cemetery Bluewell, WV.
