Mrs. Lula Beatrice Turner, 88, born on April 23, 1930, went home to join other family members on Saturday, June 23, 2018, after a lingering illness. She was the daughter of Zac and Geraldine Charles Smith.
Beatrice was a member of Central Baptist Church and attended Douglas High School. She retired from Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center after 18 years of service as a Respiratory Services Technician. She is fondly known by family members and friends as "Mama Bea." Her smile was infectious.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Turner; two brothers, Charles and Doyle Smith; recently her sister and niece, Wanda McMiller and Jacqueline McMiller; three infant grandchildren; and one infant great-grandchild, Levell McClintock, II.
To cherish her memory, "Mama Bea" leaves behind two daughters, Mrs. Joni Hughes and Dr. Teri Hunter; one sister, Mrs. Dorothea McMiller; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Bailey; four grandchildren, Mr. Marcus (Jamie) Hughes, Mrs. Jada Mcgee, Mr. Lee Bravell McClintock, and Mr. Casey (Whitney) McClintock; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services for Mrs. Turner will be conducted Saturday June 30, 2018 at 1:00pm from Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery Weber City, VA. Those wishing to visit with the family may come to the home of Ms. Joni Hughes, 346 Wheatley St. Kingsport, TN.
