Mrs. Wanda McMiller, 76, was born on August 28, 1941 and peacefully departed this life on April 11, 2018. She was born in Kingsport to Lan and Geraldine Smith and received her formal education at Douglass High School.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and served as a caregiver to her parents. She was known as a surrogate grandmother to many children in the church and thecommunity.
Wanda worked at North Electric in Gray, TN, and the Tennessee Employment Office in Kingsport. She retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in Rockwood, TN, and returned to Kingsport to live out the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joe Allen McMiller, Jr.; and two brothers, Charles Smith and Doyle Smith.
Wanda leaves behind her children, Mrs. Denise (Henry) Horton, Ms. Jacqueline (Bonnie) McMiller, and Mrs. Candice James of Kingsport; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Turner and Mrs. Dorothea McMiller; three grandchildren, Miesheia (Jason) Robertson, Joshua Horton, and Franchez; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services for Mrs. McMiller will be conducted Monday April 16, 2018 at 2 pm, from Central Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the hour of the service.
