Ms. Charmie Gay Horton

Charmie Gay Carter Horton departed this life on January 2, 2018, daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth and Charles Carter.  Charmie was born in the old city of Blacksburg, Virginia.  Her three brothers, Herbert (H. B.) Carter, Wilfred H. Carter and William “Piggy” Carter preceded her in death. 

 

She is survived by her beloved husband Jerry Horton and two daughters from a previous marriage, Sylvia Cochran of New Orleans, LA., and Wanda Yett of Atlanta, GA.  She leaves behind two grandchildren – Charla and Charles Yett Jr., three great grandchildren, Courtney Harris, John-James Yett, and Aubrey Yett and three great, great grandchildren – Nasir, Chyna Lee and Braydon Hammond.  She is also survived by four precious and loving nieces -- Maria Redmon (Pete), Linda Carpenter, Gail Carter, and Teresa Brown (Thomas) .  a great nephew -Bradley Carter (Michele), and two great-nieces Robyn Chavez, Teresa Francesconi and  three great great nieces - Briana Rhoton, Jalyn Carter, and Alona Lisenby. 

 

The family would like to acknowledge the many dedicated friends, caregivers at the Brookside Dialysis Center and the many others that she came to know as she journeyed this life.

 

Visitation will be observed in Kingsport on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Clark Funeral Home between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 PM located at 802 E. Sevier Street Kingsport, TN

 

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday January 7th at the Lee Street Baptist Church located at 1 West Mary Street in Bristol, Virginia at 2:00 PM.
