Reverend Delbert “Donny” Wade departed this life on January 21, 2017 doing what he loved best—preaching God’s Word.
Reverend Wade was born on April 22, 1955 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Aaron McCroskey, Sr. and the late Kathryn Wade McCroskey. He was the oldest of four children.
He accepted Christ at a young age and loved everything about the church. He grew up in a religious atmosphere and had loving parents to nurture him in his Christian journey. He always knew what his purpose was while here on earth—to be a servant of the Lord.
He graduated from Oakland High School, Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 1973 and moved to Kingsport in the early 1980’s where he was employed at Eastman Chemical Company for 30 years. He accepted his calling in 1996, and became the Associate Pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the Leadership of Reverend Lester D. Lattany. On January 10, 2010, he accepted the position as Pastor of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church family. He loved preaching God’s Word, teaching Bible Study and Sunday School, serving as Choir Director, getting involved in Food, Nursing Home, and Prison Ministries. He just loved working for the Lord, and always with a smile.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn McCroskey, brother Aaron McCroskey, Jr., aunt Doris McAdoo, and great-aunt Annie R. Zachery.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 27 years, Linda Hale Wade, two sons, Qiane Hale and Dustin Jerome; Brother Doug McCroskey (wife LaBora), Sister Felicia Wade (husband George); several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00pm from Central Baptist Church, Kingsport, TN. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service. The burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA
