In the stillness of the morning of Friday, July 15, God called home His child Brown Simpson.
He was born August 18, 1928 to the late Jane Lizzie Simpson and Brownlow Fanney in Hancock County, Tennessee. He was married to the late Evelyn Bernice Simpson and they had two children.
Mr. Simpson became a Christian early in life. He loved the Lord and his church, Grace Temple Church Eternal Life Center in Johnson City.
He retired after many years of faithful service from Slip Knot Belting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mrs. Jane Lizzie Simpson and Mr. Brownlow Fanney; his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Bernice Simpson; Mr. Michael Simpson; great grandson, Rylan Whelchel; brother, Mr. Kenneth Fanney; sister, Mrs. Doris Fanney Kyle.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Whelchel; three grandchildren, Ms. Tiffany Tarter, Mr. Brian (Leslie) Whelchel, Ms. Camina Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Hayden Thompson, Payton Thompson, Callon France, Braxton Whelchel, Tre Whelchel, Micah Sutherland, and Aiden Brooks; sister, Mrs. Hazel Dobson Simpson; sister-in-law, Mrs. Willie Mae Deadlock, special friend Mr. Ralph Watterson and a host of family and friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Simpson will be conducted from A.M.E Zion Church, Friday July 22 beginning at noon. The family will receive friends from 11 am until the hour of service. Interment to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Lester Turner will be officiating.
