James "Jimmy" Banks of Bristol, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, November 17, 2015, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. James was born in Bristol Virginia and graduate of Virginia High School. He was a life time resident of Bristol Virginia and was employed by the Shearer's Snack Food Company. James was a member and a trustee of the New Zion Faith Center in Johnson City Tennessee and was also a member of the Gospel group The Sons of Zion. Preceded in death are his parents, William N. and Emily A. Banks; sister, Mrs. Mary Yvonne Patterson; brother, William E. Banks; uncle, James A Smith; and grandparents, Edna and Florence Smith. James is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia (Livingston) Banks; a son, James A Banks Jr.; niece, Mrs. Stephanie Grantham; and nephew, Mr. Carlos Alexander. James was a loving husband and a great father; he will be dearly missed and will always be remembered in our hearts for his spirit, love of life and his kindness to his family and friends. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Blessed indeed," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!" Revelation 14:13 Funeral services will be conducted from the New Zion Faith Center, 1904 Jamestown Rd, Johnson City, Tenn., Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ernest E. Widby, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends and family from 1 p.m. until hour of service, Interment will follow at the Eastern Heights Cemetery, Bristol, Tenn.
