Joseph Sanders of Bristol, Va, departed this life Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Ballad Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 24, 1948, to the late Mr. Washington Sanders and Mrs. Cassie C. Moore Sanders. He attended school in Bristol, TN, and was a member of Everflowing Well Church. Joseph severed his country for 22 years in the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Survivors include his devoted wife of fifty years, Mrs. LaVerne Sanders; and to this union two sons, Owrenthial (O.J.) Sanders and Brandon (Caitlin) Sanders; nine grandchildren, Jarah, Justin, Kingston, Jakari, Giovanni, Bailey Reign, Kya, Uriah, and Brynn; two brothers, Jake (Norma)

Frank "Bill" W. Brown was born on February 6, 1939, in Emory, VA. He departed this life on July 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by wife Iris; parents, William and Mary K. Brown; and siblings, John M. Brown, Francis Brown, and Varah Crawford. Bill was a graduate of Douglass High School. He was Career Military; Vietnam Veteran 27 years in the United States Army, retiring in 1993 with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant residing in Colorado Springs, Co. Carrie Lee Cash departed this life Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Ballad Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center. She was born in Rogersville, TN. Carrie worked for the NSC for 37 years before retiring. She was a member of Community Chapel C.O.G.I.C in Rogersville, TN. Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Henderson Dukes; mother, Carrie M. Rogers; father, Louis Rogers; brother, Junie Rogers; and two sisters, Kathy Collins, and Alfreda Womack. To cherish her memory she leaves behind four daughters, Loleta Dukes, Skye Dukes, Keyonna Dukes, and Julia Green; seven sons, Henderson Cordell Dukes, John Dukes, Nylee Dukes, Josh Dukes, Harry Vern Dukes, Harry Phillip Dukes, and Johnny Dukes;

Doris Juanita McKinney Greene, 86, was received by our Lord on July 21, 2020. She was a resident of Bristol, Virginia but moved to Charlotte to live with her daughter once she became ill. Doris Juanita received her Bachelor of Education Degree at King College and was the first black to graduate from King College, now known as King University. She continued with her education and received a Master’s Degree in Education at East Tennessee State University. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years in the Bristol Virginia School system. She loved reading, cooking, gardening, and classical music and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer in Bristol.
