Ms. Roberta Bell Clay Hughes

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend went to be with the Lord on Friday December 29th, 2017 at the age of 75 after being admitted to the Bristol Welmont Hospital. Roberta was born June 18th, 1942 to the late Francis Clarissa Clay Anderson in Bristol, Virginia. Roberta was a member of the Lee Street Baptist Church. Roberta served the Lord as a member of the Woman’s Missionary Society, Young Matron’s Auxiliary, Senior Choir, Women’s Choir, Order of Eastern Star No. 58, various youth circles and on occasion sang with the Martin Luther King mass choir. Ronnie Hill departed this life Sunday December 24, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Perry County, Ky. A graduate of MC Napier High School. He moved to Kingsport, TN in 1990. Ronnie was a cook at various restaurants and was also employed in the construction industry. Ronnie was a people person and never met a stranger. He had many friends and a huge heart. He was very special and loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. George Hill and Ms. Virginia A. Bonney Jean Underwood Abbott went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday night, December 7, 2017. Born on December 4, 1946 in Kingsport, TN and affectionately called “Bonney Jean”. She was educated in Kingsport Public Schools, and played clarinet in the band at Douglass High School. She was a proud member the Douglass High School Alumni Association. After high school, she went to Bands Beauty College in Charlotte, NC. A few years later she relocated to Washington, DC and its metropolitan area, where she lived for more than 40 years. Mary Kathryn Evans, 65, departed this life and went to her heavenly home on Monday, December 4, 2017 after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Kathy was born in Kingsport, TN, March 28, 1952 one of seven children of William and Julia Evans. Kathy retired from Quebecor World (Kingsport Press) after 28 years of service. She then began her second career at Kingsport Child Development Center (KCDC) as a Teacher. At KCDC Kathy impacted the lives of many children and their families for over 10 years before her retirement this past May. He is the Son of Gladys and Buzz Sawyer of Cochran, GA. Lanier spent most of his life on the Sawyer Farm in Cochran, GA, but later relocated to Bristol, TN. He was a loving father and an outstanding grandfather. He is survived by his children; Zack and Josh Wheeler, as well as his daughter Sarah Owens.
